My Visit To Loudres.

We know, the festival of the 'Assumption' of Virgin Mary is celebrated every year during this period of the year in many countries. It is celebrated in India too, and we have a few famous churches where it is celebrated with pomp.

The Velankanni Basilica in Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu stands on the Coromandel coast of the Bay Of Bengal and is popularly known as the 'Lourdes' of The East. It attracts millions of devotees all through the year from different parts of the globe.

Mount Mary church located in Bandra in Mumbai/Bombay celebrates the feast on the first Sunday after 8th of September the birth day of Virgin Mary. The feast is followed by a week long celebration known locally as Bandra Fair. Thousands of people visit the Shrine during the festival and I too have fond memories of visiting the church and lighting candles.

I take the opportunity to present my trip to Lourdes (France) a few years ago. My visit to Lourdes was a once in a life time experience. I feel I am blessed to have felt the air of the place where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared on eighteen occasions to the peasant girl Bernadette Soubirous.

My husband was part of a delegation to the Airbus company(Toulouse) and I accompanied him on the French tour which was a memorable one.

Lourdes situated on the foot hills of  the Mt Pyrenees is a scenic Pyrenen town filled with beautiful churches, rivers, streams, fountains and trees.

The drive from Toulouse to Lourdes was awesome and I was thrilled to see the snow covered peaks of Mt. Pyrenees. I remembered reading about these mountains in school Geography lessons  and to see them for real was very exciting.

Lourdes - The Virgin Mary's own town and the universal capital of faith and prayers.

  1. We have the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. I visit it several times a year. In fact there's a constant pilgrimage to it and yesterday, as I prayed the Rosary with it, the 5th mystery was recited in Tamil Language... It reinforces my Faith to see so many people from all over the world in constant pilgrimage to Fátima.
You look beautiful in your pictures. Faith, Hope and Love puts a special glow in our faces, doesn't it?
    Blessings,
    Teresa

Shades of Green

This is September, and the month offers its own fresh start to many things. Here in India, it is the beginning of festivities and celebrations for the next few coming weeks. These are the days of showers too, and it is truly refreshing & soothing to see the plants and trees after every brief shower. The moist leaves give us an impression that they are happy and smiling and breathing a 'Thank You' for the fresh green look. I love the colour green and as we all know it is one of Mother Natures primary colours. The green stem is honoured and credited to hold every flower of different colours. That's awesome. Inspiration comes from every where and the colour green inspired me to do a scape, with the green touch. I collected the green ware from the racks and putting it together as a teascape was pleasing to the eyes like the happy greenery around us. Sometimes it is wonderful to have tea and treat ourselves amongst a small collection of green plants. M...

Festive Give Away:)))

Season Fall is to arrive soon and the season has its own charm in providing us with plenty of seasonal specials. Oranges are best during Fall and they last from beginning of Fall to end of Winter. In our garden plenty of Calamondin oranges started to appear and the fresh smell of the citrus in the air so soothing.  Plucked few of them and made marmalade from the ripen oranges for the morning toast. Also a good idea to make marmalade when the oranges are plenty, fill them in cute little bottles, tie with a ribbon/card and gift it when there is a Fall party or for Thanks giving & festive occasions. Its easy and quick to make and my way of preparing the recipe is given right here.  Cut the calamondin orange to half, remove the pulp and the skin separately. While removing the pulp take away the seeds. Squeeze out the juice from the pulp using a thin cloth . Cut the skin to thin stripes.  Put a heavy bottom pan on the stove and keep on low flame. (For one glass of ju...
