Have a Fabulous Diwali:):)

It is time for a big celebration . Diwali is all about warmth and welcome. If you love to celebrate Diwali in real sense of style , think splendid. Setting up everything ready the day before Diwali  creates magic for you. On the day of the celebration you still have time to do things like dressing up in traditional wear, to crack crackers, to do a colourful rangoli, to light lamps and to visit neighbours....all in relaxed manner.

Diwali decors and a party at home needs a novel spin. Happy to share few Diwali decor ideas and party tactics . To begin with start with a colour theme. Colours like Red, Orange, Gold, Silver, Purple, Pink goes well for the season and the celebration.

Create Vignettes by grouping of diyas, colourful candles, floating candles and flowers. If you miss the scent you can get fragrant candles that smell like Jasmine. Celebration like Diwali calls for the lavish use of fresh flowers. Try fresh flower decor for the entrance door. Arrange roses or other seasonal blooms in vases and keep them on side boards, centre  or coffee tables. I do colourful rangoli for Diwali using colours mixed in rock salt. Balcony can have a beautiful lantern and colourful display of lighting. A brass or a terracotta container in the balcony with floating candles and flowers adds an elegant festive touch.

To throw a party.... set up a drink station with glasses and beverage
dispenser so guests can serve themselves or hire a mixologist. For the dinner...... set the table with a theme preferably fruits or flowers. For the terrace party set up a food station with the essentials like cups, spoons, napkins, tray, ice cubes etc. Good lighting is a must. Either you can have bright or soft lights. There is no such thing as too many candles. Votive s, pillar candles, Moroccan lantern adds beauty and set the mood. Play great music(soft numbers).

The return gift to the guests would be a box of sweets, chocolates,  dry fruits and nuts or any gift with a rose attached and hand written thank you card.

With the delicious menu and with festive creativity, guests feel welcomed. Everybody is going to have a blast and a good time and the lady of the house have a great story to tell later.

Shades of Green

This is September, and the month offers its own fresh start to many things. Here in India, it is the beginning of festivities and celebrations for the next few coming weeks. These are the days of showers too, and it is truly refreshing & soothing to see the plants and trees after every brief shower. The moist leaves give us an impression that they are happy and smiling and breathing a 'Thank You' for the fresh green look. I love the colour green and as we all know it is one of Mother Natures primary colours. The green stem is honoured and credited to hold every flower of different colours. That's awesome. Inspiration comes from every where and the colour green inspired me to do a scape, with the green touch. I collected the green ware from the racks and putting it together as a teascape was pleasing to the eyes like the happy greenery around us. Sometimes it is wonderful to have tea and treat ourselves amongst a small collection of green plants. M...

With coffee becoming the new fad, this refreshing anytime beverage wooes us in its many new avatars. A good cup of coffee can really work wonders if you are seeking relaxation after a hard days work or gearing up for the day. A true coffee lover would like to have his cuppa without milk but most Indians prefer it with a dash of milk and some cream on top. Coffee is based on its appeal to ones senses - Smell, Taste, Touch, and Sound. With so many varied ways of brewing coffee where every method leaves behind a unique taste, it is but natural for one to fall in love with this elixir of life. Compliment yourself by having your hot expresso, with baked sandwiches, hot chocolate brownies, donuts, or creamy cheese sandwiches - An awesome combination indeed. Being a avid coffee drinker myself, I m happy to present to you, my round table corner with Egyptian Motif Coffee mugs and a smoked glassware setting.
