Soup for a chilly Jan afternoon:)))

As jan is a month for some of it's beautiful flowers and as well i have been sharing posts with flowers of the season along with table-settings. The other day it was wonderful to drive down along the coast and out of city to meet a friend. Our out of city drive was after a long gap and enjoyed the sea side drive and the greenery along. It was wonderful to see the country side... the colorful wild blooms along the muddy roads, lily ponds, the smell of the fresh eucalyptus and the sound of chirping birds returning to their nests, buzzing of the bees, the golden sun set behind the paddy fields all were so refreshing. On the way back we stopped to pick cluster of flowers which i fell in love for its texture and tiny purple flower. Picked few stems to do a post for the floral string at CG. As i learnt about the plant it is full of medicinal value and the fresh leaves of the plant can be used as wicks to light lamps in oil. I wondered how beautiful nature could be.

The jan chilly weather at times call for a bowl of hot/warm soup. Prepared Broccoli soup with tofu this afternoon as the weather was gloomy and chill. Sharing the recipe here as broccoli is one of the best sources of folic acid, rich in calcium, vitamin c and fiber. Tofu is an excellent source of protein, vitamin B12, calcium and phosphorous.

Preparation time: 10 min

Serves: 6

Ingredients: 2 teacups broccoli, (steamed) 2 teacups skimmed milk, 2 & 1/2 teacups water, 4-5 basil leaves(optional), 1/2 cup tofu cubes, salt to taste.

Method: Heat milk, water and broccoli in a pan. Add basil and salt. Simmer for five minutes. Let it cool. Blend mixture. Add grated or tofu cubes just before serving.

Shades of Green

This is September, and the month offers its own fresh start to many things. Here in India, it is the beginning of festivities and celebrations for the next few coming weeks. These are the days of showers too, and it is truly refreshing & soothing to see the plants and trees after every brief shower. The moist leaves give us an impression that they are happy and smiling and breathing a 'Thank You' for the fresh green look. I love the colour green and as we all know it is one of Mother Natures primary colours. The green stem is honoured and credited to hold every flower of different colours. That's awesome. Inspiration comes from every where and the colour green inspired me to do a scape, with the green touch. I collected the green ware from the racks and putting it together as a teascape was pleasing to the eyes like the happy greenery around us. Sometimes it is wonderful to have tea and treat ourselves amongst a small collection of green plants. M

Falling in Love with Fall

Learning is always the best thing to do in life. To learn all about fall and the things associated with this time of year was informative and enjoyable. Fall can be romantic and poetic with the change of colours & with the first frost and falling leaves. The season is all about the display of colors in nature & about fruits like Plump Pumpkins, Red Berries, Nuts, Ornamental Gourds, Rosy Pomegranates, along with Apples, Pears, decorative coloured cabbage & pretty-frilled leaves. Other things include welcoming wreaths, sturdy baskets, potpourri, wooden trugs, pottery bowls jugs, pitchers & terracotta pots.Copper and brass add charm to the season. Colours most used in Fall include burnt orange, green, golds, browns, reds, pinks, rich mauves and so on. I have given a finishing touch to this corner with the elements of Fall and it looked beautiful.                                      Thank you for your visit:):)
