It's all about thanksgiving. Every religion teaches and preaches about the importance of thanksgiving. Truly a fine quality and beautiful gesture that one can possess.
It feels nice to get back to blogging after a gap, and do a post about Navaratri (The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit), the longest festival of the season - it is a celebration filled with pomp and fervor. India has a culture as diverse as its people, and, Navaratri is celebrated in different traditons and rituals which brings richness in creativity to it too.
The concept of it all being, that the mother divine is evoked and thanks is given to her during these nine days. The mother divine symbolizes the creative field too.
Celebrating Navaratri in our part of tradition is by keeping Kolu in our houses. Kolu is all about decking up the dolls of Gods, represented in various avatars and exhibiting them in numbered tiers ("padis"). Theme based Kolu's can spread a message for a social cause. The other high light of the celebration includes bonding with friends and relatives, preparing delicious food, giving away gifts with interesting goodie bags. For the children - it teaches them about culture and simple hospitality.
Where ever you are on the planet its all about Love & Thanksgiving.
