Flowers in the Kitchen.:))

Just a month away for Christmas celebration and already its vibe felt everywhere around. Flowers are beautiful at this time of the year and as i am a flower person picked zebra's from the market. There are various ways to arrange flowers and place them around the house. It's absolute pleasure. While arranging these flowers in the container on the counter top of the kitchen it looked gorgeous against the darker shade of the kitchen. Clicked these shots when the morning was chill & cozy. Many like me,would love to have flowers around them and would want them to last long in the container. And what is the trick?

Sharing few tips here for the flowers to last long in the container.

Fresh sufficient water should be provided  and change of water every 24 hours necessary specially in hot weather.

A spoonful of ammonia, sugar or salt added to the water helps the flowers to be fresh in the container.

Stem treatment is important to improve to take up water to the stem. Plants with woody stem like the roses or fibrous ones have difficulty in taking water through their stems. Last one inch of the plant's woody stem is cut or crushed before putting them inside the water. Instead of a flat cut criss cross cuts helps the flowers to be fresh for longer time.

Another way is...singeing stems. Using a lit candle or a slow burning match to singe the cut stem briefly will help to seal the stem and prevents the sap/nutrients to escape and pollute the water. By doing this still it will allow the water to be taken up to the stem.

Remove spoilt leaves on and off from the stems to give a fresher look.

200th post at Crystal Grandeur!

This is my 200th post at Crystal Grandeur!  As a profound blogger it is a moment of joy for me as well.   It has been a wonderful journey all along.  Crystal Grandeur blossomed in November 2011 with Diwali & Christmas decors and it is my small world where my imagination and creations comes to reality.  I admire some of the blogs crossing 400+ posts. I appreciate and thank them for influencing others to do the same.  Speaking of my love for decors and styling I enjoy exploring different aesthetics and incorporate them in my decors and tablescapes. It helps me to keep moving forward  with new and fresh ideas  and doesn't let me be stagnant to one particular style.    For a nostalgia kick i share with you all... my delightful moments at Crystal Grandeur. Receiving appreciation for your creation in the form of comments always touches ones heart. (Sharing some of my past posts sweet comments posted by dear readers from across...

Shades of Green

This is September, and the month offers its own fresh start to many things. Here in India, it is the beginning of festivities and celebrations for the next few coming weeks. These are the days of showers too, and it is truly refreshing & soothing to see the plants and trees after every brief shower. The moist leaves give us an impression that they are happy and smiling and breathing a 'Thank You' for the fresh green look. I love the colour green and as we all know it is one of Mother Natures primary colours. The green stem is honoured and credited to hold every flower of different colours. That's awesome. Inspiration comes from every where and the colour green inspired me to do a scape, with the green touch. I collected the green ware from the racks and putting it together as a teascape was pleasing to the eyes like the happy greenery around us. Sometimes it is wonderful to have tea and treat ourselves amongst a small collection of green plants. M...
