A Touch Of Nostalgia:)

The decor trends in interiors and in fashion industry change from time to time. Decor & fashion houses, magazines exhibit the changing trends of present time. Also decor enthusiasts have much to look forward and speak about the changing trends on home decors, fashion etc. However as trends change, certain things never go out of style while mixing the old and the new. Speaking about home decors it is always wonderful to have one's own touch and style that is well appreciated by others. Blending wall colors, blending of furniture's, mixing the collectibles from vintage/heirlooms in decors during changing season fulfills one's desire to have a beautiful home.

 A unique blend of the old & the new in home decors provides a perfect ambiance to unwind. Mixing the old & the new, at all time in fashion when it comes to decor affair. There's something nostalgic about vintage/heirloom pieces and incorporating them to your decor style is always grand. It is a kind of bringing the past to the present with stories cocooned around them. What's equally true is that nothing compares using a vintage/heirloom piece dear to you to get a unique decor. 

 Longing for some change in decor by mixing the old & the new this season? Here we go ....you can let your imagination to run & rock by bringing out vintage elements from cupboard like the caskets, bottles, fabrics etc to create a cohesive design for your coffee table, dressing table, side board or even for an evening tea gathering.

 Enjoy your decor splendor with your touches by mixing the old & the new in cozy little corners of your home.

 I  brought out my heirloom  pieces for this post to use them for three different decor styles. 

Havenly, an online interior design house encouraged me to share my old world charm decor with lot of memories attached.





      A old Bonsai tree tells it's story of growing in that little pot. 



The tiny little wooden box with fine work of ivory carvings on the lid is more than sixty years old and given to me by my mother. For the teascape i used it as a tea sachet holder.Placing it on a old book looked pretty. The book which is sixty five years old from my father's collection of books. 

The money box from my in laws home is quiet old ( Eighty plus years) as well. Using it for a bar decor on a side board created an eye catching display. The divided space inside the money box allowed the bar  accessories like the cocktail shaker, measuring cups, cork opener, bottle opener and a Swiss knife to fit in. The round old mirror with the brass edge( 30 years) a old buy of us came handy to place the decanters. As a kid my hubby has played with the money box putting coins & little toys. 



        The English make cork opener not less than 90 years old




The pretty sandalwood jewelry box with fine work of Taj Mahal impression a class apart . It speaks by itself  the Indian craftsmanship. Dear to us and it is more than eighty years old. It is handed over to us from my in laws home.  
            The pretty silver box quiet a beauty on a dressing table.  



                        I used a vintage bottle as a brush holder.

    Hi there! Oh, I agree with you about rummaging through cupboards and closets to rediscover hidden treasures that have been out of sight/out of mind! We all have cool items stashed away that can come to the rescue when we're seeking a change of pace. Instead of running out and buying all new, it's a more creative gesture to build from what we already have. It's tough for me to do, but we otherwise end up with a whole store in our home!!! 😆 You do such a nice job of combining the old and treasured (like that 80-year-old jewelry box!!!) with the new.

    Treasures are always hidden in closets, boxes, drawers, etc. You are right my friend, memories are the best that things bring us from family gone as much as family here with us. What a beautiful post you created with your gorgeous memorabilia. I love the old lovely jewelry box my friend, it is a real treasure from your mom.

Shades of Green

This is September, and the month offers its own fresh start to many things. Here in India, it is the beginning of festivities and celebrations for the next few coming weeks. These are the days of showers too, and it is truly refreshing & soothing to see the plants and trees after every brief shower. The moist leaves give us an impression that they are happy and smiling and breathing a 'Thank You' for the fresh green look. I love the colour green and as we all know it is one of Mother Natures primary colours. The green stem is honoured and credited to hold every flower of different colours. That's awesome. Inspiration comes from every where and the colour green inspired me to do a scape, with the green touch. I collected the green ware from the racks and putting it together as a teascape was pleasing to the eyes like the happy greenery around us. Sometimes it is wonderful to have tea and treat ourselves amongst a small collection of green plants. M

Spring with younger hope than ever ....

It is wonderful to see the beautiful spring table posts in everyone's blogs. It's a delight to see the soothing greens, the pretty pinks, the cheerful yellow flowers dominate the sce nes , with cute bunnies hopping around.. :):) I have created a tea scape here with beautiful mini cups & a little g reen touch added to show spring is here to say hello to us .. T hese beautiful cups and saucers were a gift from my long time friend Padmini with whom I have shared fun and laughter through the years. Friendship's a fantastic feeling when you share it with fantastic friends. T here are also so many beautiful friends I found in blog land too and I am thankful to each and everyone for their love.
