A Dining Scape with Lemons:)

Everyone knows Lemonade is a drink made out of Lemons and everyone loves a sip of it. The drink from the yellow/green citrus fruit is popular during Summer in most of the countries. Indians fondly call it 'Nimbu Pani' and consume this drink a lot during Summer. The drink is served in nook and corners of the street to quench the thirst. It is made into different variations and enjoyed thoroughly from young to old. The simple method of making a glass of lime juice is just squeeze out the juice add cold water with sugar or salt. Home made  bottled lemonade syrup is handy  summer drink for yourself or for the visiting guests.

It's wonderful to pluck  a basket full of lemons from your own garden. I felt wonderful when I plucked lemons from our lemon tree. Doing a scape in the dining area with ripen lemons and a large glass full of lemon juice was exhilarating.

Here is a simple lemonade recipe for everyone to get refreshed during Summer.

For 8 cups.
5lbs lemons
2 cups water
2 cups Sugar

Cut the lemons to half and squeeze out two cups of lemon juice. Remove seeds if any. Pour water into a medium size sauce pan and place it on the stove over medium heat. Stir in sugar. Continue stirring until sugar is dissolved and the liquid looks clear.
Combine lemon juice with sugar solution. Cover the pan and simmer for five minutes. But do not let it boil. Remove from fire and cool it. This concentrate can be bottled and kept in the refrigerator.
How it is served. One part of lemonade is mixed with five parts of water per glass.  Ice cubes and crushed mint leaves can be added to get the minty taste.

  1. I do love lemons... and once I had a lemon tree while living in Japan ...I remember the sweet nectar from the delicate flowers and the abundance of juice that came from a real fresh lemon. I wish that I had , had your lovely recipe then... I did however squeeze the lemons and make lemon water... It was absolutely delicious. I now buy my lemons locally so will remember your suggestion on how to make “ Sweet Lemonade”...Thanks for this beautiful post...Hugs

  2. Lemonade from fresh lemon juice is so much better than the powdered stuff from the store. I think your photos are so pretty. I love the stack of white plates and the crisp white napkin with the pretty scalloped edge. The really 'set off' the colorful citrus. Very nice.

Shades of Green

This is September, and the month offers its own fresh start to many things. Here in India, it is the beginning of festivities and celebrations for the next few coming weeks. These are the days of showers too, and it is truly refreshing & soothing to see the plants and trees after every brief shower. The moist leaves give us an impression that they are happy and smiling and breathing a 'Thank You' for the fresh green look. I love the colour green and as we all know it is one of Mother Natures primary colours. The green stem is honoured and credited to hold every flower of different colours. That's awesome. Inspiration comes from every where and the colour green inspired me to do a scape, with the green touch. I collected the green ware from the racks and putting it together as a teascape was pleasing to the eyes like the happy greenery around us. Sometimes it is wonderful to have tea and treat ourselves amongst a small collection of green plants. M...
