My Nation,My Salute...:):)

On the eve of India's sixty-eighth Independence Day I am happy to present a tiny table-cape with India's tricolor flag as a salad on a plate to honor the day ... It is indeed proud moment for any one,  to see their country's Flag flying high in their own country or any part of the world. I felt proud seeing our tricolor inside the Sears tower complex in Chicago.

India is a country with so many religious and ethnic groups, so much cultural diversity ... over 350 languages, more than 1,600 dialects, nearly 650 different tribes and with different food habits every few kilometers ... yet India is one country!

We regained the freedom to be what we are, to live the way we want to be. And the freedom had been the hallmark of this great region. India gave the concept of zero to the world. She gave the game of chess, algebra, trigonometry and calculus. She gave the world its first university, the early school of medicine and she gave four religions to the world. She nurtures hundreds of Mosques, Churches, Gurdwaras and Temples. The list is endless and unparalleled. It's India and I Salute her ... Jai Hind... :):)

  2. Oh, Sujatha....what a pretty presentation!!! A salad in your flag's colors is absolutely genius! What a neat way to celebrate Independence Day! I didn't realize India's independence was so young. I'm 56, so that means India gained its freedom a scant 11 years before I was born. Wow! You gave a lot of history all wrapped up in a neat little bow, too! I had NO idea that India was the genesis of some of those things. So I have you guys to blame for me having to take algebra in school??? :-) :-) :-)

This is a very pretty tablescape, Sujatha, and the colors of the salad are so vivid...they just bring the whole table to life! They work really well with the flowers you chose as well as that brightly colored butterfly. Those bright colors look terrific against all the white on the table.

    Bravo! And Happy Independence Day!!!!!!

Diwali With Lights

The word Deepavali stems from the Sanskrit words, Deepa meaning ‘Light’ and Avali meaning ‘Row’. It means a row of lights and illumination is undoubtedly its main attraction. Deepavali, the festival of lights, even to this day, projects the rich and glorious past of our country and teaches us to uphold the true values of life.    THE FLICKERING LIGHT OF A FLAME IS TRULY MAGICAL. Shades of Green

This is September, and the month offers its own fresh start to many things. Here in India, it is the beginning of festivities and celebrations for the next few coming weeks. These are the days of showers too, and it is truly refreshing & soothing to see the plants and trees after every brief shower. The moist leaves give us an impression that they are happy and smiling and breathing a 'Thank You' for the fresh green look. I love the colour green and as we all know it is one of Mother Natures primary colours. The green stem is honoured and credited to hold every flower of different colours. That's awesome. Inspiration comes from every where and the colour green inspired me to do a scape, with the green touch. I collected the green ware from the racks and putting it together as a teascape was pleasing to the eyes like the happy greenery around us. Sometimes it is wonderful to have tea and treat ourselves amongst a small collection of green plants. M
